Solar Energy is too expensive: Think Again

I did some research in the past few days and found that even though solar panels currently available on large scale are expensive, lots of research has been going on in this field and there are several promising ideas . One such company is Switzerland based Flisom who  has a technology  for highly efficient, low cost, light weight, mass producable solar panel. They claim that this can bring down the capital cost per watt of energy down from $3 today to $1 in 5 years (note that this is roughly the cost of electricity that comes from buring coal- which is the primary source of generating electricity in US) and to $0.50  in a decade.

Here's an article in Telegraph by CEO of Flisom : Anil Sethi: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?xml=/money/2007/02/19/ccview19.xml
This could mean a large percentage of world residential and commercial energy needs being met by solutions like these. It could also mean people cars have similar cells on their roof top. It could mean an advancement in human civilization where cars are plugged into homes every evening to be charged by electricty produced by solar energy during the day. Lots of possibilities.. I'm hopeful ...
